Brown Mediation & Arbitration Services

Mediators charge by the hour based on their experience and training.

Our mediators charge $75 an hour per party for basic sessions with a one hour minimum charge.

More complex sessions may require a larger fee.  The mediator will tell you what the fee per hour will be when you contact them to schedule the session.

Many issues can be settled within 3-4 hours.  However, the length of the session depends on the how willing the parties are to communicate, how many issues there are and how willing the parties are to reach a resolution.  There will usually be a 1 hour minimum charge for each session.

In addition, an administration charge (the equivalent of 1 hour fee) may be added to the cost of the mediation.  Your mediator can tell you if this will apply when you schedule the session.   This fee covers the mediators time for communications to the other party, scheduling meeting accomodations, etc.

Once a session is scheduled, you may cancel by giving the mediator at least 24 hours advance notice.  Otherwise, there will be a $100 cancellation fee.  (Do not rely on email for cancellation notice - telephone the office to make sure that the message is received or you may still incur the fine.)

It is the generally suggested that the parties split the costs of the mediation equally.  However, agreements for payment "sharing" among the parties will be honored if communicated to the mediator before the session ends.

Our office takes cash, money orders, personal checks, Mastercard, Visa, Discover or American Express.
